Hyperrealism

Description:
Photoshop is a program where you can create almost anything. Hyperrealism is about something that can be and can’t be in a same piece.
Research:
For this project I did 4 concepts. world hunger, Alzheimer’s disease, smoking and animal cruelty. I ended up choosing the Alzheimer’s disease concept, it means a lot to me because I have been working with dementia/ Alzheimer’s patients for almost 10 years now, seeing the disease take over their mind body and soul. To start my project I searched on google images for images of elderly people with different facial expressions, a white clock and a picture of a DNA.
Strategy:
I’m trying to incorporate a clock and elderly people in different times of the day where the disease can get worse. The disease on the clock and a kid trying to avoid to get the disease cutting the DNA that he is going to inherit. The size of my project is 13 x 19 and is 150 dpi. I’m changing the color of the clock to white where we can appreciate the DNA of the Alzheimer’s disease better. Using the polygonal lasso and the eraser tool I’m going to get rid of the background and then incorporate the pictures into my main piece dragging them and changing the size of the pictures on image size. I incorporated the white clock, and the logo for the Alzheimer’s disease. I used the crop tool to make the picture of the Alzheimer’s logo fit into the clock.
Challenges:
There were a lot of challenges for me during this project. First because i was new to Photoshop and their tools, then to find the right concepts and themes, and to find the right pictures, with the right size to fit in my piece.
Results:
My result was OK not perfect since it was my first time using Photoshop. I think that overall, the idea is there. My piece can reflect the elderly faces being modified during the pass of the hours while the Alzheimer’s disease makes them forget.
Cubism

Description:
Cubism is technique that was used in the early 20th-century style and movement in art, especially painting, in which perspective with a single viewpoint was abandoned and use was made of simple geometric shapes, interlocking planes, and, later, collage.
Research:
For this project we had to come up with 3 to 5 concepts, like still live or portraits. I chose to create a cubism of an statue located in the Peekskill riverfront, the statue is called “The Golden Mean”. I looked around for ways to do it, maybe use Picasso as an inspiration or other artists.
Strategy:
I decide to use the polaroid style on my piece. I went back and took many pictures of the statue from every angle just so i have as many assets I can use for my piece and use the copy and paste tool, I would place the copy of a part of the statue and place it in another side of it, then give it some shadow and contrast.
Challenges:
My challenges where how to put my piece together, using the copy and paste and how to rearrange the picture of the statue to create the polaroid effect.
Results:
I think my result was good, I was able to create a piece applying the polaroid effect, and at the same time try to give it form to the piece.
Type & Motion
Description:
The last project is type and motion, is how to create a video with movement and words at the same time. There is a lot of the videos in Youtube that gave me an idea of what to do and what to create.
Research:
For the research I had 5 concepts some about the environment, how to be more caring to people and about soccer, since is the only sport i like. I want to create a video with a meaning. So I decided to go for the soccer theme because the my others concepts were going to be a little tricky to do. I did a research of how many countries around the world play soccer and we all share the same passion for it.
Strategy:
I want to create a video showing kids playing with a soccer ball and the word soccer in different languages to show that without speaking the same language we still have something in common that we can do together. So I started to collect all my assets the silhouettes of the people kicking a soccer ball and to collect the flags of the countries and the word soccer in different languages.
Challenges:
My challenges where how to create a soccer ball that is going to be rotating for the whole video, thank god Professor Krikun helped me with that.
Results:
My result is a 30 second video that it will show how kids and adults play soccer and the appears the flag of some of the countries where practice the game.
